Roots, Dundee
Jamie, Gav, George and Colin at Roots - 10.01.2025
Still known by many as Conroy’s Basement (its former name), Roots is found below Conroy’s Bar on Meadowside in Dundee. It’s across the road from the magnificent gothic-revival McManus Galleries museum, which first opened its doors in 1867.
The pub itself was an insurance office until it was converted in 1979, under its more famous name: Foreigners. In its heyday of the 1980s, Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy popped in for a pre-gig pint before the band’s set at Caird Hall in 1981. Rock royalty, indeed.
